Wholehearted Devotion

Wholehearted Devotion

In his commentary on Exodus Philip Graham Ryken tells about a woman who offered herself to God with wholehearted devotion. Her name was Betty Stam, a missionary to China. Communists forced her to watch as they brutally beheaded her husband before doing the same to her. Yet God used her testimony, both in life and in death, to help many come to salvation. When she was a young woman Betty offered herself to God as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1-2). She wrote down this prayer. May it be your prayer as well: “Lord, I give up all my own plans and purposes, all my own desires and hopes, and accept thy will for my life. I give myself, my life, my all utterly to thee, to be thine forever. Fill me and seal me with thy Holy Spirit. Use me as thou wilt. Send me where thou wilt, and work out thy whole will in my life at any cost, now and forever.”[1]
