Bible Reading - Week 51

WEEK 51

Look this week for what it takes to persevere despite hardships.  Ask God for the grace to endure all things for him.

Hebrews 2:1 For this reason, we must pay attention all the more to what we have heard, so that we will not drift away.

DAY 1 1 Peter 1-5

  • What attribute of God has moved him to give us new birth?
  • What does our salvation give us the liberty to do when we face trials that cause us to suffer grief?
  • Why must we be holy?
  • Why must believers conduct themselves honorably in the presence of unbelieving Gentiles?
  • What is the responsibility of wives? Of husbands? What motivation do each have to fulfill their responsibility?
  • Why did Christ suffer for sins once for all?
  • In light of the end of all things being near, what kinds of behavior ought believers exhibit?
  • What is the devil doing today?

DAY 2 Hebrews 1-4

  • In what ways does the author argue that Jesus is superior to angels?
  • Why must we pay more careful attention to what we’ve heard?
  • Why is Jesus able to help those who are tempted?
  • Why must believers encourage each other daily?
  • Who will not be allowed to enter God’s rest?
  • Why is Jesus, our high priest, able to sympathize with our weaknesses?

DAY 3 Hebrews 5-8

  • How does 5:9 refute the belief that it doesn’t matter how you live so long as you believe?
  • What problems arise from Christian’s being lazy?
  • Christians debate whether or not 6:4-6 teach that you can lose your salvation.  Can you see both perspectives?  Which view is best supported by Scripture?  Can you use Scripture to defend your view?
  • Why is Jesus a superior priest over the Levitical priests?
  • Now that the new covenant has come, what has become of the first covenant (the Mosaic convenant)?

DAY 4 Hebrews 9-13

  • What must happen before there can be forgiveness?
  • Why did Christ appear one time in the presence of God for us?
  • For those who are sanctified, what does the one offering of Christ do for them?
  • What happens if we deliberately keep on sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth?
  • What is faith, according to chapter 11? How do the examples given in chapter 11 help you understand faith better?
  • What does it mean if you suffer discipline? What does it mean if you do not suffer discipline?
  • Why did Jesus suffer outside the gate?

DAY 5 2 Timothy 1-4

  • What kind of spirit has God given his children? Why does Timothy need this reminder?
  • Why is Timothy to remind the people not to fight about words?
  • What will people be like in the last days?
  • What will happen to all who want to live a godly life?
  • For what purposes is the Scripture profitable?
  • What are people like who will not tolerate sound doctrine?
  • Note that while Paul knows his life is nearing its end (4:6), he still makes plans (4:9-13). Determine that you will serve the Lord faithfully until your earthly life comes to its end.

DAY 6 Jude; 2 Peter 1-3

  • Why does Jude change his writing plans?
  • What does Peter say God has given us so that we can live as he wants us to live?
  • What will keep you from being useless and unfruitful?

  • What will happen on the day of the Lord?
  • How must we live while we wait for the day of the Lord?
